Job Description:
Full-time, tenure-line (beginning 2010-2011 academic year), faculty position on the Jamestown Campus and North County. Responsibilities include teaching reading courses for pre-college level. Additional responsibilities may include coordination of developmental courses at extension site. As the role of faculty continues to evolve, responsibilities and expectations transform appropriately. A partial listing of faculty responsibilities includes curriculum development, assessment activities, appropriate use of technology, participation on committees, academic advisement of students, mentoring and collaboration with colleagues, as well as participation in recruitment and retention activities. Faculty members are also expected to have flexible schedules to adjust to the needs of the student population, and to be open to exploring alternative teaching modalities.
Requirements:
Master's degree in reading education OR master's degree in English or adult literacy with a specialty in reading OR master’s degree in related field with reading certification: current knowledge of reading field and developmental education field; and second area of teaching expertise. Preferred: Minimum of one to three years of secondary or post-secondary teaching experience and working with adult learners.
